About

The moniker ‘fotologik’ was first conceived as a catchy title for my photography website, but has since come to represent the conflicting ideals that define my life. It is an expression of the diverging theorems to which I subscribe most passionately and am most perplexed by.

When asked to describe myself I am often lost for an answer. A scientist? An artist? It depends on the situation and the time of day. A Canadian through and through? A lover of all things nature? A fiend for the musical and photographic arts? A struggling writer who never has enough time to read, think or put pen to paper? An independent spirit with an ambition to change the world?

Born and raised in the Canadian boreal forest, I feel a strong connection to my surroundings and am most at home next to Lake Superior. Influenced by the likes of Neil Young, William Wordsworth, Charles Darwin and Raine Maida, my love for the written word has been stymied by an inexplicable bout of writer’s block for the past few years. I call Environmental Management a career and am working to bring environmentally sound practices to the world of mining. I struggle daily to find a balance between the activist and the pragmatist within.

As I embark on a three-year Australian adventure, I hope to use this site to share the latest updates from Down Under with friends and family as well as stretch my creative writing muscles. Enjoy!
